Atwood is a village in Douglas and Piatt County, Illinois, United States. Main Street separates Piatt County and Douglas County; to the east of Main Street is Douglas County, the west is Piatt County. The population was 1,224 at the 2010 census.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,290 people, 534 households, and 371 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,265.8 people per square mile (873.8/km²). There were 566 housing units at an average density of 994.1 per square mile (383.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.07% White, 0.23% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.31% from other races, and 0.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.70% of the population.

There were 534 households out of which 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% were non-families. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
