At this stage, drugs are extracted from hair at significantly lower concentrations compared to other methods (e.g., urine or saliva), making hair drug testing the most challenging type to conduct.
Confirmation for any presumptive positive screening result is done using GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All samples testing positive in screening are washed as necessary before confirmation. The full lab process, from Accessioning to Confirmation, complies with both CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair recognition and the ISO / IEC 17025 accreditation standards.
