As of the census of 2000, there were 1,004 people, 351 households, and 272 families residing in the city. The population density was 450.3 people per square mile (173.8/km²). There were 373 housing units at an average density of 167.3/sq mi (64.6/km²). The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the city, the population was spread out with 29.0% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 35.2% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 6.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
