Redford is located along the southern border of the town of Saranac at 44°36?24?N 73°48?31?W? / ?44.60667°N 73.80861°W? / 44.60667; -73.80861 (44.606552, -73.808596). It is on the north side of the Saranac River, which flows east to Lake Champlain. New York State Route 3 passes through the village, leading east 21 miles (34 km) to Plattsburgh and southwest 28 miles (45 km) to Saranac Lake.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the Redford CDP has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.8 km2), of which 1.4 square miles (3.5 km2) is land and 0.12 square miles (0.3 km2), or 7.45%, is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 512 people, 178 households, and 137 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 374.3 per square mile (144.3/km²).
