As of the census of 2000, there were 398 people, 163 households, and 106 families residing in the town. The population density was 351.8 people per square mile (136.0/km²). There were 177 housing units at an average density of 156.4 per square mile (60.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 94.47% White, 0.50% African American, 0.75% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.50% from other races, and 3.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.51% of the population.

There were 163 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.9% were married couples living together, 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.4% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.04.
