How It Works

Legal DNA test – when needing a DNA test for paternity, child custody or any court ordered purpose a legal DNA test must be performed at a testing center, the child/children and the alleged father will be scheduled to go to one of our many testing centers nationwide with appropriate documentation, identification, and the test will be performed by a qualified DNA test collector who will then send the specimen to a certified AABB laboratory. Results will be available in approximately 10 days after the laboratory receives the specimen.

Non-legal DNA test -this test is performed for informational purposes only, a DNA certified test kit will be sent to the purchaser via regular mail or overnight delivery. The kit will include clear instructions of how to perform the DNA test, the purchaser will utilize an oral fluid swab for the child/children and alleged father. upon completion the specimen will be placed in a prepaid delivery envelope and sent to our AABB certified laboratory. Results will be available in approximately 10 days after the specimens are received at the laboratory. Please remember the non-legal DNA test cannot be used in a court of law or for any legal purpose.

Yes. Accredited Drug Testing provides access to DNA collection locations nationwide. In most cases, individuals can be scheduled at a site close to their home, workplace, attorney’s office, or court jurisdiction for convenience.
Yes, if it is ordered as a legal paternity DNA test and collected under strict chain-of-custody procedures. During a legal test, each tested party’s identity is verified, the collector documents the handoff of the swabs, and the lab issues a report suitable for court, child support enforcement, and other official proceedings.
Accredited Drug Testing also offers non-legal DNA testing. This option still compares DNA profiles but does not require the same level of identity documentation or chain of custody. These results are for personal knowledge and are typically not intended for courtroom use.
Immigration-related DNA testing is used to confirm a claimed biological relationship, such as parent and child, when other documentation is incomplete or unavailable. Properly collected and documented DNA samples can be submitted as supporting evidence in visa or residency applications.
Most DNA tests use a painless cheek swab (buccal swab). A trained collector swabs the inside of the cheek to collect cells containing each person’s DNA. In legal and immigration cases, this process is witnessed, logged, and sealed to protect the integrity of the results.
Yes. Results are released only to the authorized requesting party, such as the tested adult, legal guardian, attorney, court/probation contact, or designated immigration representative. All results are handled under strict confidentiality and documented securely.
Yes. Accredited Drug Testing provides relationship DNA tests, including grandparent DNA tests, sibling tests, avuncular (aunt/uncle) tests, and other kinship analyses. These tests help establish or confirm a biological relationship when one or both biological parents cannot participate.
In many cases, DNA collection appointments can be arranged quickly to meet legal timelines, court dates, immigration requests, or custody hearings. The collection is performed at an approved location and then sent for laboratory processing.
