Hair testing is now regarded as an effective method for identifying drug and alcohol consumption. Process Overview
The laboratory processing of drug test outcomes comprises four key phases: Accessioning, Screening, Extraction, and Confirmation.
Accessioning entails the introductory handling of a sample within a lab’s system. Screening involves an initial, rapid assessment for illicit substances. Any positive results identified during screening are verified using GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. Presumptive positive samples undergo cleansing prior to confirmation if necessary. The comprehensive lab procedure, from Accessioning to Confirmation, is assessed under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair criteria and complies with ISO / IEC 17025 credentials.
