Process Overview
The laboratory processing of a drug test result encompasses four key steps: Accessioning, Screening, Extraction, and Confirmation.

This step includes checking that the sample was properly sealed and dispatched, assigning a random LAN (Laboratory Accessioning Number), and filling out any remaining data entry not covered by an electronic chain of custody system.

Confirmation for any positive Screen result is carried out via GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All presumptive positive samples are washed, as needed, before confirmation. The complete lab process from Accessioning to Confirmation is scrutinized under the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair designation as well as accreditation to ISO / IEC 17025 standards.
