This step entails extracting drugs from hair at much lower concentrations than other methods (e.g., urine or oral fluid), making hair testing a more complex process.
GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS is used for confirming any positive Screening result. All samples displayed as presumptive positive are cleaned before confirmation as needed. The full lab process, from Accessioning to Confirmation, is audited under the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair designation and the ISO / IEC 17025 standards accreditation.
