Hair analysis has gained recognition as an effective method for detecting drug and alcohol consumption. Process Overview
The laboratory processing of drug test outcomes consists of four key stages: Accessioning, Screening, Extraction, and Confirmation.
Accessioning incorporates the initial handling of a sample into a lab’s records. For any positive screening results, the Confirmation is executed through GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All samples showing a presumptive positive are cleaned before confirmation as required. The complete lab procedure from Accessioning to Confirmation is scrutinized under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair classification and the accreditation to ISO / IEC 17025 benchmarks.
