Accredited Drug Testing provides thorough hair follicle drug assessments in Vista Center, New Jersey. If a hair-based drug or alcohol examination is needed, our expertise is hair testing, and our centers cover each city nationwide. A minimum of 1.5 to 2 inches of hair from the scalp or body is typically required. Hair analyses can detect drugs, alcohol/ETG, and other tailored testing options.
The use of hair follicle drug testing has grown in drug examination methods recently. Employers, courts, and Substance Abuse experts prefer it over standard urine tests. These tests are favored by zero-tolerance policy employers, courts, and individuals on probation due to their ability to detect drug use over 90 days, an observed collection process, and resistance to cheating. For the past 5 days, however, urine tests remain more precise.

When you're searching for hair drug testing near me or hair drug testing locations, we provide a simple and convenient process to find a drug and alcohol testing location near you that is certified to provide all of your drug and alcohol testing needs.
Hair testing has emerged as an influential mechanism for uncovering drug and alcohol consumption. Hair offers an extended historical record of alcohol and drugs by embedding biomarkers within the growing hair strand's fibers. When obtained near the scalp, hair can present roughly a 3-month detection timeframe for alcohol and other substances. It is easy to collect, relatively hard to tamper with, and straightforward to transport.
A 1.5-inch segment consisting of approximately 200 hair strands (similar to the girth of a #2 pencil) closest to the scalp yields 100mg of hair, the preferred sample size for both screening and confirmation. For EtG, supplemental tests, and/or assessments exceeding 10 panels, a specimen amount of 150mg is advisable. Utilizing a jeweler’s scale for weighing the specimen is suggested. If scalp hair is not accessible, an equivalent volume of body hair is permissible. When discussing head hair, we specifically mean scalp hair. Body hair encompasses all other hair categories (facial, axillary, etc.).
Process Summary
The primary stages involved in the test lab processing of drug test results include Accessioning, Screening, Extraction, and Confirmation.
Accessioning is concerned with the initial processing of a sample into the laboratory's framework. This step comprises verifying proper sealing and shipment of the sample, assigning a unique LAN (Laboratory Accessioning Number), and concluding any supplemental data input absent in an electronic chain of custody system.
Screening constitutes an initial rapid evaluation for drugs of abuse. Although Screening is an economical method to eliminate drug use from the majority of samples, a positive screen necessitates confirmation to be legally valid. Samples that test presumptive positive in Screening must undergo secondary confirmation.
For samples testing presumptive positive during Screening, additional hair is extracted from the original specimen for preparation during Extraction. At this point, drugs are extracted from hair at significantly lower concentrations than other methods (e.g., urine or oral fluid), making hair drug screening the most challenging method to execute.
Confirmation of any positive screening outcomes is accomplished via GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All presumptive positive samples undergo pre-confirmation cleansing as deemed necessary. Every step of the laboratory process, from Accessioning to Confirmation, is audited under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair classification and accreditation to ISO / IEC 17025 standards.
