This phase entails extracting drugs from hair at a significantly reduced concentration compared to methods such as urine or oral fluid testing, contributing to the higher complexity of hair drug screening.
Verification of any positive screening result is accomplished via GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS methodologies. All presumptively positive samples undergo a washing procedure before confirmation if necessitated. The entire laboratory workflow from Accessioning to Confirmation is scrutinized according to the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair designation along with the accreditation meeting ISO / IEC 17025 standards.
