Accredited Drug Testing provides comprehensive hair follicle drug screening at St. Vincent College, Pennsylvania. When a hair drug or alcohol evaluation is needed, Accredited Drug Testing excels in hair analysis, with facilities in cities across the nation ready to conduct the test. Generally, 1.5 to 2 inches of crown hair or body hair suffice. Hair analysis can detect drugs, alcohol/ETG, or offer special testing options.
In recent times, hair follicle drug evaluations are more commonly incorporated in testing methods. Employers, judicial bodies, and Substance Abuse experts are favoring them over standard urine tests. They are mandated by employers with strict drug policies, courts, and supervised individuals. The key advantage is the prolonged detection capability, typically up to 90 days, with an observed collection process that's nearly foolproof. For drug use in the past 5 days, urine tests maintain precedence for accuracy.

When you're searching for hair drug testing near me or hair drug testing locations, we provide a simple and convenient process to find a drug and alcohol testing location near you that is certified to provide all of your drug and alcohol testing needs.
Hair testing is recognized as a potent method for detecting drug and alcohol consumption. Hair captures long-term data on alcohol and drug use by embedding biomarkers within the hair strand as it grows. When collected near the scalp, hair offers up to a 90-day timeframe for detecting alcohol and other substances. Hair is easy to gather, hard to tamper with, and simple to send.
A sample measuring 1.5 inches with about 200 hair strands (comparable to a #2 pencil's thickness) nearest the scalp will yield 100mg, perfect for both screening and confirmation processes. For EtG, additional tests, and tests beyond 10 panels, a collection of 150mg is advised. We suggest using a jeweler’s scale to weigh the sample. In the absence of scalp hair, a similar quantity of body hair can be used. When mentioning head hair, it pertains only to scalp hair. Body hair signifies any other type of hair (like facial, axillary, etc.).
Process Overview
The laboratory method for processing a drug test result includes Accessioning, Screening, Extraction, and Confirmation.
Accessioning refers to the initial handling of a sample within a lab's system. This stage involves checking that the sample is sealed and sent correctly, assigning a unique LAN (Laboratory Accessioning Number), and completing any remaining data entry absent from an electronic chain of custody system.
Screening is a preliminary rapid test for drugs. Although Screening is cost-effective to rule out drug presence for most samples, a positive screen must be confirmed to be usable in court proceedings. Presumptive positive results in Screening require further confirmation.
If Screening yields a presumptive positive, more hair is extracted from the initial sample for the Extraction step. Here, drugs are isolated from hair at significantly lower concentrations than with other techniques (such as urine or oral fluid), which is why hair drug tests present the most challenging methodology.
Confirmation of any positive screen result is performed via GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All samples that test presumptive positive are washed prior to confirmation if necessary. The full lab process, from Accessioning to Confirmation, is conducted under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair designation and in compliance with ISO / IEC 17025 standards.
