Process Overview

During this phase, drugs are isolated from hair at a significantly lower concentration than in other methodologies (e.g., urine or oral fluid), which accounts for why hair drug testing is the most complex method to conduct.
Confirmation of any positive screening outcome is performed using GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. Any presumptive positive samples are cleaned before confirmation as necessary. The entire laboratory process from Accessioning to Confirmation is evaluated under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair designation and the certification to ISO / IEC 17025 standards.
