Schedule your Hair Drug Test

Employment, Court Ordered, Probation, Family

In Rosser, Texas, Accredited Drug Testing provides comprehensive services for hair follicle drug testing. Our focus is on hair drug and alcohol tests, and we have nationwide centers, including every city, for these tests. Those needing a hair test must typically have 1.5 to 2 inches of hair on the scalp or from the body, as both are generally acceptable. Tests can detect drugs, ETG/alcohol, or provide customized options.

More recently, drug testing frequently involves hair follicle sampling. This is particularly true for employers, courts, and substance abuse professionals who now often choose hair tests over urine tests. Zero-tolerance employers, courts, and those on probation trust this method due to its long detection time, up to 90 days, and its secure, observed collection process. Despite this, for drugs used in the past 5 days, urine tests remain the precise choice.

* You must register by phone or online to receive your donor pass/registration prior to proceeding to the testing center. You must bring a valid government issued ID along with the registration/barcode number which was sent to you by email.

When you're searching for hair drug testing near me or hair drug testing locations, we provide a simple and convenient process to find a drug and alcohol testing location near you that is certified to provide all of your drug and alcohol testing needs.

What it is, How it works

Hair testing is regarded as an effective means for detecting drug and alcohol consumption. Hair offers an extended history of substance usage by capturing biomarkers within the growing strand's fibers. When collected near the scalp, hair allows for a detection period of up to around 3 months for alcohol and drugs. Hair is straightforward to collect, relatively challenging to tamper with, and convenient to transport.

A sample measuring 1.5 inches consisting of roughly 200 hair strands (comparable to a #2 pencil's size) near the scalp will yield 100mg, which is the optimal quantity for both screening and confirmation. For EtG, additional tests, or tests exceeding 10 panels, 150mg of the sample is advised. We suggest using a jeweler’s scale to weigh the specimen. In the absence of scalp hair, an equivalent portion of body hair may be used. Referencing head hair pertains solely to scalp hair. Body hair includes all other hair types (facial, axillary, etc.).

Process Overview

The laboratory processing of a drug test encompasses four key stages: Accessioning, Screening, Extraction, and Confirmation.

Accessioning entails the initial sample processing within a lab's system. This process includes checking the sample was properly sealed and shipped, assigning a random LAN (Laboratory Accessioning Number), and finalizing any extra data entry not covered by an electronic chain of custody system.

Screening offers an initial rapid assessment for substances of abuse. While cost-efficient for dismissing drug usage in most samples, positive screens necessitate confirmation for legal admissibility. Samples with presumptive positives in Screening require additional confirmation.

For presumptive positives in the Screening phase, additional hair is extracted from the specimen and prepped for Extraction. Drugs are extracted from hair at significantly lower concentrations than in other methodologies (e.g., urine or oral fluid), thereby making hair drug screening the most challenging methodology.

Confirmation of a positive screening is done via GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. Prior to confirmation, presumptive positive samples are washed as necessary. The full laboratory process from Accessioning to Confirmation is under review by both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair designation and the ISO / IEC 17025 accreditation standards.

Advantages of hair drug testing:

  • Extended detection period: Hair drug testing identifies drug use up to 90 days, unlike urine tests with shorter detection times.
  • Difficult to alter: Cheating a hair drug test is challenging, ensuring result accuracy.
  • Historical insight: It reveals a pattern of substance use over time, beyond recent usage.

Limitations:

  • Inability to detect recent consumption: It takes roughly 5-7 days for drugs to become traceable in hair.
  • Expense: Hair drug tests generally incur higher costs than alternate testing methods.
  • Result variability: Elements like hair color and personal differences in hair growth can influence drug metabolite concentration in hair.

Note: Though frequently called "hair follicle tests", the analysis examines the hair strand, not the follicle beneath the scalp.

Why Hair Follicle Testing Beats Urine Testing

Why Hair Follicle Testing Outperforms Urine Testing in Rosser, TX
When comparing hair follicle tests to traditional urine tests, it's evident that the former offers superior detection accuracy and reliability.
