Schedule your Hair Drug Test

Employment, Court Ordered, Probation, Family

Accredited Drug Testing provides thorough hair follicle drug testing services in Doniphan, Nebraska. Whether you’re seeking a hair drug or alcohol test, our centers are located nationwide and specialize in hair testing. It’s required to have around 1.5 to 2 inches of hair from the scalp or body, which can be tested for drugs, alcohol/ETG, or other tailored testing options.

Lately, drug testing has increasingly favored hair follicle tests. Many employers, legal bodies, and substance programs now require hair tests over traditional urine tests. These tests are preferred by entities enforcing strict no-drug policies, judicial systems, and probationary individuals due to their extended drug detection window, roughly up to 90 days, collected under strict supervision, and are extremely tamper-resistant. However, urine tests remain most effective for detecting recent drug use within a 5-day window.

* You must register by phone or online to receive your donor pass/registration prior to proceeding to the testing center. You must bring a valid government issued ID along with the registration/barcode number which was sent to you by email.

When you're searching for hair drug testing near me or hair drug testing locations, we provide a simple and convenient process to find a drug and alcohol testing location near you that is certified to provide all of your drug and alcohol testing needs.

What it is, How it works

Hair analysis has emerged as a robust method for identifying the use of drugs and alcohol. Hair captures a lasting record of alcohol and other substances by embedding biomarkers within the strands of the growing hair. When sampled near the scalp, hair can reveal up to roughly a 3-month detection period for alcohol and drugs. Hair is straightforward to collect, somewhat resistant to tampering, and simple to transport.

A 1.5-inch section of around 200 hair strands (approximately the size of a #2 pencil) nearest to the scalp will yield 100mg of hair, the optimal sample size for analysis and verification. For EtG, additional examinations, and/or panels above 10, a 150mg sample is advised. It's suggested to weigh the sample using a jeweler’s scale. If scalp hair is not an option, an equivalent quantity of body hair can be used. When we mention head hair, it specifically means scalp hair. Body hair refers to all other categories (facial, axillary, etc.).

Process Overview

The core phases in the laboratory workflow for processing a drug test result include Accessioning, Screening, Extraction, and Confirmation.

Accessioning entails the initial integration of a sample into a laboratory's system. This process verifies the proper sealing and shipping of the sample, assigns a random LAN (Laboratory Accessioning Number), and completes any additional data entry not provided by an electronic chain of custody system.

Screening involves a preliminary assessment for substances of abuse. While Screening is a cost-efficient way to eliminate drug presence in most samples, a positive result must be confirmed for legal admissibility. Any samples that show a presumptive positive in Screening need further confirmation.

If a sample shows a presumptive positive during Screening, additional hair is extracted from the original specimen and readied for Extraction. At this stage, drugs are isolated from hair at significantly lower concentrations than in other methods (e.g., urine or saliva), which is why hair drug screening is the most complex method to execute.

Verification of any positive screening outcome is performed using GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All presumptive positive samples undergo washing before confirmation as necessary. The entire laboratory procedure from Accessioning to Confirmation is evaluated under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair classification and the compliance with ISO / IEC 17025 standards.

Hair drug testing benefits:

  • Extended detection period: Hair drug tests can identify drug use for up to 90 days, in contrast to urine tests which have a shorter detection timeframe.
  • Challenging to falsify: It is highly challenging to manipulate a hair drug test, ensuring greater accuracy of results.
  • Chronological data: It can illustrate a pattern of substance use over time, not just recent usage.

Challenges:

  • Inability to detect recent use: Drugs become traceable in hair after about 5-7 days.
  • Higher cost: Hair drug tests tend to be costlier than other drug testing techniques.
  • Result variability: Variables like hair color and personal differences in hair growth can influence the concentration of drug metabolites in the hair.

Note: Although often termed as "hair follicle tests", the examination itself evaluates the hair strand, not the hair follicle beneath the scalp.
