  • Secondary confirmation: Should the ELISA result be positive, a precise confirmation test, such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) or Liquid - Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS), is employed to verify the presence of drug metabolites and to eliminate false positives.

The legal framework surrounding hair testing and the achievement of guidelines to ensure fairness, accuracy, and confidentiality in drug testing practices have also been discussed,and the SoHT consensus on general hair testing and testing for drugs of abuse was presented at the meeting and published as a Letter to the Editor.
